Taking a screenshot on Android is easy, but the process isn't the same for every device. Before you learn how to take a screenshot you should check which version of Android your smartphone or tablet is running.
If you’re using Android devices running Android 4.0 or latter versions, the system has inbuilt screenshot taking capability. Screenshot taking on devices which run Android 3 and former will need you ti have the device rooted. Taking screenshots however is not obvious on Android 4.2 and latter. In this article I am going to write about how you can take screen shots on different versions of Android.

Taking screenshots on Android 4.0 Ice cream sandwich
On devices running Android 4.0 to Android 4.2, you can in fact capture the screenshot in 2 different methods. One is by pressing the power on/off switch for a moment to display the power menu. There you will see the capture screenshot button, just tap on and the screenshot will be taken and saved.
Another method is to hold down your volume-down button and the power button, until the screenshot has been taken.

Taking screenshots on Android 4.2 Jelly Bean and latter versions
On devices running android 4.2 or latter, you will have to to hold down the power button and volume down button together until the screenshot has been taken for this. This is the only method that is integrated into the system on Android devices running 4.2 and latter versions of Android. There are many apps for taking the screen shots on the play store which can be used too.
Taking screenshots on Samsung devices running Android
On some Samsung android devices the process is somewhat different. Instead of holding down volume-down button along with the power button you will have to hold down the power button and the home button to take the screenshot. So if you have an android device from Samsung, and none of the above methods are working for you, you may have to use this method for taking the screenshot.
Other Mothod
The second method is simple, too. On some phones the 'Take a screenshot' option is available from the Power off menu. Press and hold the power button for 1- to 2 seconds until the power options screen appears. If the option is available select 'Take a Screenshot'. Don't worry, it will take a screenshot of whatever is behind this menu.
